"Sowing the Word of God, so all might be saved."
Has the Lord ever TESTED us to see how obedient we are? On many occasions God commanded me to follow His instructions. For instance, I remember when God told me to, “Pack up from Atlanta, and to move back to Saint Louis.” I was distraught, for I knew God had sent me to Atlanta to do His work; however, what I didn’t want to accept, was the notion that my work had been completed in Atlanta. Also, I knew I couldn’t move all the luxuries I had acquired in Atlanta back to Saint Louis; so, I realized I would have to leave practically all but my clothing. This was a hard situation for me to swallow. Some of the difficulty was encased in my ‘Vain Glory!’
I began to WORSHIP the Lord over several days, and I found my answer. Consider Abraham’s obedience to God! God instructed Abraham to take his only son, Isaac, to the land of Moriah and to offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains. “Abraham said to his servants, ’Stay here…, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will WORSHIP….” (Gen 22:5. NASB).
Along the way, Isaac questioned his father concerning the offering. “…I behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” (Gen 22:7. NASB)
To make a long story short, because of Abraham’s WORSHIP, God provided a ram in the bush for a sacrifice to Him, as opposed to Isaac, Abraham’s ONLY son.
Whenever we're going through, we should begin to WORSHIP the Lord (talk to Him and to give Him His due reverence. For example, ‘you, and you alone are worthy of the glory), and God will provide us a, ‘ram in the bush’ concerning our TEST and situation.
Dear Lord, throughout each test, give us the strength to be obedient; knowing all the while that at the end of each test, and through our committed worship, you have already provided us with happiness, joy, success and a 'ram in the bush.'
We honor you, and give you reverence in times of peace, and in times of turmoil.
